CONTROVERSY: UNIVERSITY WOMEN OBJECTIFYING THEIR OWN BODY

Two weeks ago, the University of Oxford female rugby team released a nude photo shoot to sell off their calendar, now the University of Liverpool Female Rugby team have stripped off and it worked perfectly. Their calendar sold out pretty quick. They were sold to support Coppafeel, a charity organisation which teaches women how to check their breasts regularly to detect cancer in it's early stages.

The Liverpool ladies team sold 375 copies of the calendar at £10 each and estimate that profits will be more than £2,000 after expenses are taken out.

Just some days ago, i posted an article of a slut-walk in Brazil where women were protesting.

 http://www.martinschikespeaks.blogspot.com/2015/11/slut-walk-held-in-brazil-by-hundreds-of.html

This event had hundreds of women stripping off to protest rape and all forms of sexual violence upon women.

The topless women used markers and paint to inscribe words and slogans , while some waved banners that expressed their irritation towards how men have objectified women.

It is a noble reason to protest on an issue as barbaric as rape but like I said, the approach is one that i frown at, because Charity begins at home. If you want others to believe something, you should start by believing it yourself. In this photos, women just proved that it is okay to go nude to sell calendars, it is okay to use my body to get what I want, but it is not okay when men objectify us. My question is, using your body as sign-posts and advertisement, using your body to raise funds and sell magazines, Is that not you OBJECTIFYING your own body?

When you use your body as some sort of manipulative agent or for seductive purposes, it is not just OBJECTIFYING, it is WEAPONIZING the body.

I keep saying, we can't eat our cake and still have it, you see, I wish I could do that sometimes too, but this is the real world, we must learn to accept our own mistakes and share in the blame. It is cheer mockery and hypocrisy to ask someone to see you differently when you don't act differently. The way you dress is the way you will be addressed

I still maintain that if women are genuinely interested in having a society of gentlemen, then they should learn to be ladies. The word lady is an old English word meaning - a woman to whom homage or obedience is due such as the mistress of a household.

I leave you with the words of Pope Pius XII called Sacra Virginatas: To dress modestly is to avoid deliberately causing sexual excitement in oneself or one's neighbor. One who dresses modestly shuns clothes that are known or reasonably expected to effect sexual arousal in oneself or others. Modesty is dress pertains to both genders.

Pope Pius XII (1939-1958), in harmony with the Magisterium and orthodox spiritual authors, addressed the necessity of cultivating modesty.
"How many young girls there are who see nothing wrong in following certain shameless styles like so many sheep. They would certainly blush with shame if they could know the impression they make, and the feelings they evoke, in those who see them.
"The good of our soul is more important than the good of our body; and we have to prefer the spiritual welfare of our neighbor to our bodily comforts . . . If a certain kind of dress constitutes a grave and proximate occasion of sin, and endangers the salvation of your soul and others, it is your duty to give it up . . . O Christian mothers, if you know what a future of anxieties and perils, of illguarded shame you prepare for your sons and daughters, imprudently getting them accustomed to live scantily dressed and making them lose their sense of modesty, you would be ashamed of yourselves and you would dread the harm you are making for yourselves, the harm which you are causing to these children, whom Heaven has entrusted to you to be brought up as Christians.
