OH! IT IS THAT TIME OF THE YEAR - NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

It is that time of the year when people begin to pen down both imaginable and unimaginable things to do change about themselves as an act of self improvement.

Nice concept right?

But, how many people actually go through with it? Let me ask one even better, how many people actually remember their resolutions for last year or this year? I mean without the help of your diary or memo. You see my point?

A real resolution begins with knowing yourself and telling yourself the truth. If you don't know how to boot a computer and yet you write as one of your goals, "by 2016, I want to be like Mark Zuckerberg." My dear, you need a psycho-analysis to be sure you still see the world as it is and not Disneyland. You know your strength and your weaknesses, you want to shed off some of the weaknesses, all good! But do it in a realistic and systematic way.

My take in the matter is, why not start with something realistic, crawl, then stand and then take baby steps before you start sprinting.

Decide and then set a target: When people say I want to loose 10 pounds next year, they will never achieve it, not because they didn't mean it, but because there was no actual timeline. If you say, "By February 28, I want to have lost 10 pounds". Now you are talking.

Have a plan and work the work: I didn't say walk the walk, because some people will walk back and forth thinking they are working, but worth done by a pendulum is equal to zero. Rather, I want you to work smart, faith is good, but without work, it is dead. A woman says to herself, I want to have children, she sleeps in the Church ad never get enough time to sleep with her husband, na the church go give am the belle? Is she expecting the miracle of Immaculate conception? Let us be real, plan and work.

Finally, my favorite, i have seen people hold unto their bad character, waiting for the end of the year so that they can finally resolve not to do them the subsequent year, damn! For a desperate need to avoid being abusive, don't be an idiot! I try na. If you notice something bad about yourself in the middle of the year, please work on it and drop it.

Change is hard, infact some people believe that human beings are incapable of change, I think it is not true, because it might bee extremely hard, but impossible is never the case. Let us make resolutions count or don't make them at all.

And when you make it, I am really happy for you, but please, keep it to yourself and don't disturb us with plans of how you will be a better person. When you become better, we will see it. By their fruits, you shall know them.
